What about headache ?

Headache is a medical condition of pain in the head. Its name in the medical terminology is cephalalgia. It can be located above the ears or above the eyes, in the upper back or in the neck. It is one the most common local pain complaints.

Headaches have a lot of different reasons. Besides, there are two main types of headaches, according to which a headache can be either primary, or secondary. The latter are caused by some associated disease, such as a tumor in the head, subdural or epidural hematoma, infection (for instance, meningitis or sinusitis), Parkinson's disease etc. In addition, it may be caused by a head injury.

Primary headache is not associated with any other disease. Its most common kinds are migraine, tension and cluster headaches. They may be caused by stress, high tension, dehydration, low blood sugar, eye strain, alcohol poisoning etc. They are frequent for many people.

Headache is often treated symptomatically by using painkillers, such as aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol. However, different types of headaches require special treatment, and some of them just require healthier lifestyle. Besides, the most important thing is to relate the occurrence of a headache to some particular trigger, in order to avoid it or to use prophylactic medications.
